What happens when I call in a possible zoning violation to the Zoning Office?

Answer

When a potential zoning violation is reported, zoning staff creates a service request file and has the zoning inspector responsible for that part of the county visit the site. If a zoning violation is found, the inspector will send the property owner a letter stating the violation and giving a set number of days to address the problem. If the problem has not been addressed within the set timeframe, the inspector will visit the property again and write a second letter to the property owner stating the problem and including a set number of days to correct the problem. If the problem is still not corrected, the inspector will place the item on the next available Commission agenda as a violation. If the Commission finds the problem to be a violation, they may chose to initiate legal proceedings at this time.
